HeartBeat Tap Ensemble Goes to Vegas!

The HeartBeat Tap Ensemble will be performing in Las Vegas this coming weekend as part of the 7th Annual Las Vegas Tap Festival. In addition to the performance, members of the HeartBeat Tap Ensemble will be participating in classes throughout the weekend. Mary Wall will be teaching a class at the festival on Saturday morning. The HeartBeat Tap Ensemble Season runs from August to June of each year. During the months of May and June, we like to recruit new members so that they are ready to start in August. During the May-June Session, prospective members can attend HeartBeat classes so they can get a feeling what it’s like and decide if they want to be part of the group. We recommend attending all or most of the HeartBeats classes during this time so you can get the full experience of what it means to be a HeartBeat. If you are interested, please contact Mary for more information.

Summer Schedule and the Rest of 2019

People have begun to ask about out summer schedule. Once we wrap up the May-June Session on June 28, we will be taking some time off and will be closed the month of July. Classes will resume on Monday, August 5. The August-September Session will run until September 20th. The session after that will run October 7 to November 22. We will take a holiday break during the month of December. We may add some special classes and workshops during the down time, but we will not be running regular classes.

Schedule Changes Coming in August

We are planning on making some changes and adjustments to our schedule with the August-September Session. Students who have gone through all of the Level 2s have given us some feedback and suggestions that have led to these changes. We are looking to split what is currently 2.6 into 2 sections, which will mean that we will now have 9 sub-sections for Level 2. We have also had some people complain about how long they have to wait for 2.1 to come around in the schedule once they feel they have mastered the Level 1 skills. In addition to that, we have been told that the jump from 2 to 3 is a leap and some would prefer to be eased into Level 3. So beginning in August, we will offer 3 sub-levels of 2 each session. There will be 1 morning and 1 evening class for each. We will also be adding a Level 3 Prep class. This class will work on the same things that Level 3 works on, but the pace will be slower and more time will be spent breaking down the more difficult combinations. Because there are limited hours each day, we will need to adjust and rearrange some of our current classes in order to make room for these changes. In the coming weeks, we will be surveying our current students to ask for feedback on a few different variations of the schedule.
