October 2021 News

In some ways, it doesn’t feel real. 8 years ago today, I received my LLC Articles of Organization from the State of Arizona. And now I am making plans to shut down my business.

Since I announced we were closing, so many people have told me in passing that they want to be kept informed and that I should keep them on my email list. The problem is, I wasn’t set up to start collecting email addresses yet. If you want to be on my future email list, there will a clipboard at the studio throughout this next session for you to sign up. If you are not someone who is at the studio on a regular basis, please email with your request, even if you already emailed me before.

October – November 2021 Session

Our final session begins on Monday, October 4 and will run through Wednesday, November 17.  We are still limiting the capacity of all classes; therefore, all participants must be registered in advance to ensure that there is space in the class you are taking. This also helps to expediate the check in process and keeps the studio running on schedule.

Since this is the last session, I ask that you plan to use up your class passes by the end of the session. We have removed the 20 Class and 50 Class passes from sale to keep people from buying more classes than they could possibly use. In addition to the in-person classes, we have a large library of pre-recorded virtual classes available, as well. Class passes can be used for these virtual classes, too. If you have any questions regarding how many classes you currently have on your account, please contact me.

For this session, we have compressed our schedule so that all classes will take place Monday – Wednesday. Creating a 3 day a week schedule that was as balanced as possible was difficult, but I think it will work. We have also added a 15-minute break between classes. The 5-minute turn-around during our current session has been a challenge.

If you are not yet registered, please email Mary at [email protected] to confirm that space is available in the class you would like and arrange to get enrolled in the class.

As the infection rate is still quite high in the Phoenix area, we will continue to screen everyone at the door and require masks to keep everyone as safe as possible. We are monitoring the percent of positivity daily and will change our COVID related policies should there be a large improvement in the numbers.

Liquidation Sale

As we near the end, we will be offering great deals on our merchandise and many of our studio items. The prices of some of our items have already been slashed.  Shirts, bags, water bottles, and tumblers are currently just $8 each or 2 for $10. We are now selling all of our used shoes for just $5 each regardless of their condition. We also have a small selection of brand new Bloch Audeo Tap Shoes and Jason Samuels Smith Tap Shoes. The Audeo Taps are now on sale for $45 (normal retail price $86) and the Jason Samuels Smith Shoes are on sale for $125 (normal retail price $192) In the Audeo Tap, we currently have women’s sizes 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, and 11.5. In the Jason Samuels Smith shoe, we have women’s size 5, 5.5, 7.5, 11.5, and 12 and 1 pair of men’s size 11. Please note that the women’s sizes run small, and most people will need to buy 1 – 1.5 sizes larger than their normal shoe. The men’s size runs large, and most men will need to go down half a size. Please contact Mary is you are interested in trying on any of these new shoes.

In November, we will begin selling some of our furniture and fixtures. Information will be included in our a future newsletter.

Save the Dates

On November 4 ,2013, we offered our first classes. The studio’s Grand Opening was held Thanksgiving weekend that year. Every year since (except for 2020, because… COVID!) we have held an anniversary celebration towards the end of November that included some free classes, popcorn, a prize give away, and CAKE! This year, our November celebration will be in honor of the 8 great years we had. It will still include popcorn and cake, and perhaps a few giveaways. This celebration is scheduled for Saturday, November 20. We have not set a time as of yet, so stay tuned.

We have set a time for our FINAL TAPPY HOUR! Our final Tappy Hour will be held on Friday, November 19 at 6 pm. Come spend some time tap dancing and enjoying a beverage or two. Some wine will be provided, or you are free to bring your own drink (it does not need to contain alcohol). This event is for those 21 and over. Space is limited, so we are requiring advanced registration.

  1. I would like you to keep me on your list. I was surprised that you were shutting down. I hope it wasn’t because of any health problems that you have had. I know that I stopped participating, but I thought you had a wonderful program and I think there isn’t another like it. I spent the last school year in California helping with my grandchildren. Hope all is well with you.

  2. I would like to be kept on your mailing list. I am hoping this sad closure is only temporary. I do hope you prevail & open again once all this covid is over for the world. I loved going to your class & have missed it.

  3. Hi Mary, I’m really sad to hear the news especially when I just told my family I was going back to the tap studio. Hope all is well with you and the health issues you had. Unfortunately, I may not be able to attend the last session because of work hours but I’m going to try. Please keep me on your email list. Thanks
