Next Session Starts Monday, March 9!

Our next session will begin on Monday, March 9 and will run through Friday, April 24. If you have not registered yet, you can do so online. Or, drop us an email with the classes you are planning on taking and we will save your spot for you. It helps if we know in advance which classes you are planning on attending. We are expecting some of our classes to be quite large this coming session. The Tap Level 1 class on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm and both of the Level 2.2 classes are expected to potentially reach capacity. So don’t miss out… register today!

Parking

With some of our classes approaching capacity, parking can be an issue at our studio. Please leave yourself plenty of time to find parking when you’re coming to class. If the front lot is full, you have 2 additional options for parking:

1 – Park in the back: If you enter the driveway just north or just south of the complex, you can get to the back parking lot. There is usually some additional parking available back there, depending on how many vehicles the auto shops have parked back there.

2 – Park next door at AZ Combat Sports: AZ Combat Sports is located just north of our studio and there is additional parking available there.

One additional note about parking: If you are coming in for a 5:30 pm class, please avoid parking in front of Innovated Auto Collision. They have security cameras set up on the spots in front of their building and they move vehicles to those spots when they are closing up for the night. There have been a few times when our students have taken up most or all of those spots. So please be kind to our neighboring businesses.

Dorrance Dance at Mesa Arts Center April 1

Dorrance Dance is an award-winning tap dance company based out of New York City. The company’s work aims to honor tap dance’s uniquely beautiful history in a new, dynamic, and compelling context; by pushing it – rhythmically, technically, and conceptually. The company’s inaugural performance garnered a Bessie Award for “blasting open our notions of tap” and the company continues its passionate commitment to expanding the audience for tap dance.

Wall-2-Wall Tap Dance Center purchased a block of tickets when this show first went on sale. We have a pair of seats left at the group discount price of $50 each (these seats are normally $60 each). Contact Mary if you are interested in purchasing these 2 tickets. Tickets are also available through the Mesa Arts Center Box Office: CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE TICKETS

PLEASE NOTE: Evening classes on Wednesday, April 1 are being cancelled so that our faculty, staff, and students can attend the show.

Looking for New Teachers

Do you think you have what it takes to be a Wall-2-Wall Tap Dance Center teacher? We’re looking to add a couple of more teachers to our staff. In particular, we’d like to find people who could teach our Never-2-Late and Tap Level 1 classes in addition to Raine and Marla. No previous teaching experience is necessary. If you are a Level 2.5 or higher tap student and feel you have the enthusiasm and patience to work with beginning adult tap students, we will train you. Contact Mary Wall if you are interested.

Upcoming Tap Festivals

Mary Wall is happy to have her shoes on again and is looking forward to teaching at some upcoming Tap Festivals. It would be awesome if some of our Wall-2-Wall Tap Dance Center students attended and participated in these festivals.

Las Vegas Tap Festival, May 1-3, 2020: All classes and events are held at UNLV. This year’s festival will feature members of M.A.D.D. Rhythms from Chicago in addition to the incomparable Dianne Walker. There are several packages to choose from (including a Senior Citizen pass for $100), or you can pay for classes individually. For more information, visit the website at https://lvtapfest.org/

Utah Tap Festival, July 16 – 18, 2020: What a great way to get out of the summer heat! This year’s Utah Tap Festival will hold classes at the Pointe Dance Academy in Highland, UT. The faculty for this year’s festival features the wonderful Rusty Frank and will include a Tap Competition on Thursday night. This festival also has a Senior Pass available for $100. 1.  Carol says:Hi, I signed up for the Never 2 Late Program. I missed the class last night – I am off to a great start. I am hoping I can try Friday at 11am. Also, is there somewhere that explains what type of tap shoe you prefer. I am probably missing it!Carol

    1.  Mary Wall says:Hi Carol!
We always welcome and encourage our students to make up missed classes by attending a different class of the same level. Please attend class on Friday at 11am if you can.We recommend getting a low heeled lace up style tap shoe with a solid sole. Please avoid getting the flex-sole style. They may seen comfortable at first, but they do not support your feet adequately. Please check out the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page of our website for more information about tap shoes.Reply
