I’m sorry the July Newsletter is so late. My bout with pneumonia made it difficult to get anything done. But better late than never, as they say.
July/August 2018 Session: I’M BACK!
I want to thank everyone for understanding my need to delay the start of the session by 1 week. The good news is, I had a wonderful vacation and didn’t begin to get sick until our flight back to Phoenix. The bad news is, it takes a while to get completely over pneumonia. I’m holding classes, but things are a little more low-key than usual and I’ve enlisted the help of some of my more advanced students to demonstrate and help lead classes. If all goes well, I should be back to full strength and energy by the end of next week.
To make up for the first week, I have extended the session until Friday, August 31, so you will still get your full 7 weeks. All classes have met minimum enrollment requirements and will remain on the schedule.
Miller and Ben Shoes - Do you own a pair? May we borrow them?
Every year, Miller and Ben Tap Shoes takes group orders from studios beginning in August. These shoes, which normally run about $300 a pair are discounted for groups ordering 10 or more pairs. The discount is usually around $50 a pair and they also include the taps and installation as well as shipping. Every year we place a group order and the hardest part is determining the correct size for people who are new to Miller and Ben Tap Shoes. We now have a substantial number of students who wear Miller and Ben shoes, so in an effort to help those who may be new to these shoes, I have a request:
Please consider leaving your shoes with me at the studio for a week. When you take your final class next week (July 23 -27), leave your shoes with me. During the following week (July 30 - August 3), I will hopefully have a good range of sizes available for people to try on so that we can best determine sizes for anyone new who would like to order shoes. I promise to keep your shoes safe and will return them to you the week of August 6.
For those of you ordering for the first time, if we do not have a pair that will fit you, we can make arrangements for Miller and Ben to send a sizing pair. You must commit to purchasing the shoes in order for them to do this, however.
If you are thinking of joining the HeartBeat Tap Ensemble, you will need to purchase a pair of red and black tap shoes in the Jazz Tap Master or Triple Threat style. If the Miller and Ben’s are too pricey for you, there are other options, so don’t let that hold you back. But this is the best price you’ll get on the Miller and Ben’s, so we recommend you consider buying a pair.
I hope to begin taking orders the week of August 6. If you order shoes in one of their standard colors, we usually get them in 2-3 weeks after we place the order. If you order custom colors, it usually takes 2-3 months to get the shoes.
Merchandise
You may have noticed the new merchandise display at the studio. We now have several items available for sale, including t-shirts, tote bags, water bottles, car mugs, and the Never-2-Late DVD. One of our hottest items is our “Tap Water” bottle! So next time you’re at the studio, take a look and see if there’s something you might need!
